   What inspires and motivates you to write?
   
   I have read through EXCELLENT Hubs during my two weeks here on HubPages and very curious what inspires and motivates you to write!!

   I think I am most inspired to write if i am passionate about the topic and believe that i have something to contribute that may help those in need eg refugees.
   Sometimes I'm inspired by travel - the places i've visited and the people I've met who have opened my eyes to something new or perhaps I'm inspired by something funny or sometimes I just want to have my say on an issue that bugs me eg gun ownership!

   I think it's different for everyone, but as for me, I simply cant stop writing. From a child the written word has been a source of both inspiration and challenge and without the act of expressing myself through writing I would dry up and wither away. If I miss a day when I haven't written something, I feel guilt, emptiness and an ever-growing need to delve into my inner sanctum and draw out some truth or reality that sits at the edge of my consciousness. For me writing is cathartic and I feel as one with it. It is both an extension of my soul and the path by which I realise my true nature and beliefs. This course of written expression is me talking to me, and sorting out who I am and what I can be. So, in a nut shell, life the universe and everything inspires me to write, and I am compelled to continue doing so to both follow my dreams and to develop my art.

   It really depends on the vein in which I am writing.  If it is political, it is driven by some event or action hitting my politcal funny bone and I am inspired to respond.  If it is fiction or poetry, it is usually a word, a phrase, or even a song that initially brings the idea to light.  On those occasions I sometime walk around with thought in my head for a day or two.  If it amounts to nothing...it slips away.  The strong ones keep returning again and again until I sit down and write to relieve the inspiration that is nagging at my brain.  That is what I describe as the "urge to write". WB

   What inspires me to write is probably the fact that words and how you use them are the most powerful form of communication ever since the first alphabets were conceived. So often words are abused and misused. Words can be powerful enough to begin wars, save lives or change them for better or worse. Words must be very carefully used, and if you can entertain someone with them, make them smile, even for a second or two, then I've done my job. I also find inspiration through the works of others- Stephen King, John Irving, Jane Hamilton are all excellent writers I find I identify with personally, so I have to tip my hat to them(as well as others, way too many to mention). Motivation also comes and goes, sometimes writer's block sets in when you'd rather take a walk than write.  I'm happiest when writing something that allows me to feel a purpose, something that I know is different and necessary.

   The simplest answer is that I love to help people live in peace and love and create success.
   
   As a vision, I see writing as a tide that flows - the state of the world flows into me as I live and connect, and a deep light of Spirit and Soul sends a flood of good stuff back out in reply!

   My husband and the world around me inspires my writing.  I have learned that the possibilities are endless when I actually stop and really look around.  The dumb things that you try to forget can inspire you or even the fun times you had as a child.

    Pretty much everything! I have certain subjects, like my kids that ate always a great resource for me but often I either overhear something or am in a conversation and I realize I want to blog about it. I say, just go with what inspires you! And, have fun!

    I created my hub because the subject was important to me.  It never ceases to amaze me how much time human beings waste (myself included) on trivial matters.  People are what matter.  We need to talk to each other, to listen to each other, to be kind to each other.

    What inspires me to write is the thought that someone may be interested on what will I write. It is a great feeling whenever I see in my Hub statistics that someone visited my hub. Further inspiration is the possibility that someone may benefit from what I have written.

    For me, I just feel empty if I'm not writing on a regular basis. It's as if it is a part of me, like breathing or sleeping. I just don't feel complete if I'm not getting my thoughts and feelings out on paper.

    This inspiration to write to me is natural and comes from heart but sometimes when I be exited and stressed then feelings skip outward and I have to start my writing. Beside it the expectation of earning the money also inspires me to write.

    Getting the truth out there is sometimes a motive. I have also various books out there that deal with the truth in various ways. I get angry when people I know and care about are badly represented and/or lies are being told about them.

    Everyday life and everyday events spawn creative thoughts in my head. I have been a creative writer of sorts since I was in grade school, and have had assignments in past courses where I was handed an inanimate object and told to build a story around it. Now I have come to do that spontaneously, even though 99% of the stories that pop into my head never make it to paper (or the screen).
    
    I carry a small notebook with me to jot down ideas, but even so, the majority never make it to the keyboard. Sometimes political agenda can stimulate a writing nerve, though I don't consider myself a political wiriter, but a writer of ideas and opinions. I consider myself to be a satirical storyteller, and have been influenced strongly by Sam Clemons and William Faulkner. My last piece over a month ago,"Don't forget to say I Love You" was influenced by my wife's recent stroke and my son's questions about married life.

    Almost anything inspires me to write but generally I am most inspired by genuine acts of kindness, the awesomeness of nature and the demonstration of love. What motivates me is entirely different. I'm motivated to do what I love most and often that entails expressing my inner thoughts and feelings. When I see them on paper it's as if something unreal became real, it manifested and creation is so motivating. Egotistically, one other thing motivates me. Since I have no biological children, I have a strong desire to leave a legacy through words, spoken or written. Whether I accomplish this is immaterial. The legacy is trying!

    That somehow art is an intertwining mechanism through which we can influence and have effect over all things, from time and space, to people we will never meet, and the knowledge that somewhere we each sing songs for souls we will never know, and poets write poems for dreamers with whom we will never in our waking daylight speak. The unknown is guaranteed to make connection with the ever after, through the words that are swords beating forth from our hearts. Keep on Hubbing. Blake4d

    Growing up I wasn't able to read and write properly. (Dyslexia) though they say it never goes away, I find it hard to believe. Something I was told I couldn't do-- I love genuinely, I was a reader before a writer but given the circumstances I have always had an insane desire to share and discuss... -- though I love to speak, I've always felt that I can express myself better through words....

    I have always read 'write about what you know,' and this is so true. Just be yourself and let it flow. Also one Literary Agent once said, 'the best writers are damaged people those that have been through trauma in life can bring a deeper meaning to their writing.' Also everything around me that is wrong with society (I am autistic so I suppose that again gives me a different viewpoint to many) gets me bashing away furiously at my poor old harassed keyboard. For me life experience and the trials and tribulations of just living are my greatest motivator.

    I like to write about travel, food, TV and movies. There are other subjects that I like to write, overall. When I get inspired to write, it has to be a subject that I truly like, otherwise, I get bored.
